Become an expert in olive oil with this tour. Spain is the biggest oil producer worldwide. You’ll see the most trees in Andalusia than anywhere else in Spain. So if you like olive oil, and want to know a bit more about it, you came to the right place.
Our tour will start with a visit to a centenarian olive plantation. Learn how to harvest olives with the traditional tools used for this process! Next, we´ll drive you to an Andalusian cortijo (country house) with its own oil mill. Learn more about the process of oil production. This house also has an old stone olive mill from XVIII century. See how olive oil was made in the past. Finally, you’ll enjoy an olive oil tasting to whet your appetite before lunch.
After this visit we will go deeper into Montes de Málaga for lunch at the oldest inn in Andalusia. Enjoy a typical plato de los montes (a typical dish from the area). This place is called el Museo del Bandolero (a bandit museum). It’s a special place with lots of history. Following lunch, we’ll visit the villages of Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo, in the Pyrenees of the Axarquia. Both are beautiful villages in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by olive trees. This landscape is completely different from those we are used to on the coast.
