Málaga Weekend Day 1

As you leave for your Málaga weekend, meet your driver at the hotel lobby for the ride to the Costa del Sol. Before lunch, your guide will pick you up in the lobby for a Tapas Tour. Join the locals on their pre-lunch tapas route up Larios Street into the open-air market. See the local cheeses, produce, bread and wines on display. Notice how differently Spanish present their fish and meats! Your guide will explain a few basic ingredients for Spanish staples like paella or migas. Continue into the oldest tavern in town to sample fresh seafood. Head into the Old Town for fusion tapas, classic “raciones” and more local gourmet food. As you taste your way through Málaga, you’ll pass the Roman Theater, Alcazaba Fortress, Picasso’s Birthplace and the Cathedral. Enjoy the evening on your own – Málaga has quite the dinner-scene.

Málaga Weekend Day 2

Drive through the Guadalhorce Valley to El Chorro. This area is where a large dam was built to provide water for the entire province of Málaga. Just where the river passes through the Desfiladero de Gaitanes gorge, a narrow walkway clinging to the cliffs was built for dam inspection back in the early 1900’s. The walkway connects to a trail along the river and named after King Alfonso XIII who came to the dam inauguration. Your guide will provide helmets and other gear for an easy hike with incredible views of the gorge, the river and the nearby trainway. After your walk, take some time for lunch in a countryside inn before continuing to your city. Your guide can make a suggestion.

Once you are ready to book, we’ll take a non-refundable 30% booking deposit and start reserving hotels, the best guides, drivers, tickets and activities. You’ll get a specific version of the itinerary with timings, contact information and meeting points. Final payment is 90 days before you arrive.
