Not many people know that Barcelona once had a huge Jewish population, dating back over 1,700 years. Learn more about it on this Jewish Heritage tour. The Jewish Quarters or El Call, as they were called during the middle ages, were a political and religious force in Barcelona. Barcelona society respected Jewish leaders, such as Rabbi Scholo ben Aderet. Unfortunately, there was a brutal attack on the community in 1391, which lead to the expulsion of Jews from the city. Now, in current times, Barcelona is once again recovering bits and pieces of this heritage. Your guide will take you through the area where the Jewish Community lived. See Hebrew incriptions in the architecture and symbols from that time. Along your walk stop in at the El Call Center of Hebrew Interpretation on the site of an ancient synagogue.
This tour lasts about 2 hours.
