Andalucia Family Trip

Day 1– ARRIVAL COSTA DEL SOL

Arrive at Barajas Airport in Madrid. We’ll have a driver waiting to take you to Atocha. Catch the AVE south to Málaga.  Another driver will be waiting to take you to Estepona. Check in at your hotel on the beach and take the afternoon to acclimatize.

Day 2 – GRANADA

On your first day of your Andalucia family trip, we’ll take you on one of our best day trips ever! Meet your driver in the hotel lobby for the drive east to Granada – the last Arabic kingdom in Spain until 1492.  Take an electric bike tour up into the Albaicin Quarters, where you can see the views of the Sierra from Plaza San Nicolás. After the guided tour, take some time for lunch on your own before visiting Alhambra. Meet your guide at the entrance to the Alhambra, just beside a mural map at the ticket offices. We’ll go back 900 years to visit the 11th wonder of the world. Gardens of Paradise, Alcazar Fortress and the renowned Nasrid Palaces are just some parts of the entire Alhambra Forbidden city that you’ll visit on tour. Return to Estepona with your driver in the evening.

Day 3 – FREE DAY

Spend the day on the beach or head into Estepona/Marbella for some shopping.

Day 4 – SAILING TO GIBRALTAR

Walk to Estepona Port.  Your captain will be waiting to welcome you aboard our Bénéteau Oceanis 351 sailing yacht. Head out into the Mediterranean for a morning of dolphin watching, swimming out at sea, deep sea paddle surf and snorkeling. There will be drinks and snacks on board. You´ll be able to see the Strait and Morocco in the distance.

Day 5 – WHITE VILLAGES AND RONDA

Meet your driver in the hotel lobby for the drive to Sevilla through the mountains. Discover a small corner of Spain where traditional village life goes on as it has for thousands of years. We’ll make our first stop in Benalauria, a village of only 400 inhabitants. Take a 45-minute hike exploring the Genal Valley. After that, visit the Ethnografic Museum, in a 18th Century building. This was once an olive oil mill and still has all its original machines and tools. Continue to visit a typical bakery where you’ll make your own bread in a wood-fire oven. Finish your tour with lunch at a family-run winery. Taste some of the most delicious wines and products from the area.

After lunch, your driver will take you to Ronda, the birthplace of bullfighting. Go inside the bullring to step into the matador’s shoes. Later cross the New Bridge spanning a plunging gorge that separates Ronda’s New and Old Quarters. Once across the bridge, your guide will continue the tour down cobblestone streets into the Collegiate Church and Don Bosco’s Medieval Palace.  Your driver will take you to Sevilla in the evening.

Day 6 – FREE DAY SEVILLA

Day 7– SEVILLA

Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby for a walking tour. Begin at the city walls, passing the Murillo Gardens with several stops in Barrio Santa Cruz. Visit the Alcazar fortress and gardens with your guide. Visit the Cathedral and Giralda prayer tower on your own. In the evening, we’ll have a flamenco dance lesson reserved for the whole family in the Macarena Quarters.

Day 8 – DOÑANA

Meet your driver in the hotel lobby for the drive to the Atlantic coast, near the mouth of the Guadalquivir River. Meet your guide and hop into kayaks for a tour of Doñana National Park by water. See all the wildlife in the park: pink flamingos, horses, cattle, hawks, and maybe even the Iberian Lynx. Take some time for lunch in Bajo de Guia and relax on the beach. Return to Sevilla in the afternoon in time to catch your AVE back to Madrid.

Included: breakfast, driver for the day, kayak tour, AVE tickets, train station transfer in Madrid, lodging (can be switched for horseback riding)

Day 9 – DEPARTURE

We’ll have a driver take you to Barajas for your flight home. After your Andalucia Family trip, begin to plan your next adventure with South Olé.
